What is Galaxy S2's fatal flaw?

Three good reasons why Atrix is better than the Galaxy S2.

With the release of Galaxy S2, Dual-Core smartphone consumers are spoilt for choice.Boasting the greatest specifications, would you choose the S2 Galaxy?

The Atrix and Optimus 2x both enjoy excellent price performance ratios. What would you choose? An Atrix or Optimus? Now we're going to find out the strong points of Atrix versus the Galaxy S2.

Amongst the strengths of the Galaxy S2 specifications are 1.2Hz CPU, Ground wave DMB, 4.27inch super-amoled screen, 8.9mm body thickness and an 8.0 megapixel camera, all of which are superior to Atrix.

Although Atrix has a 4 inch screen, it enjoys 960x540 high resoultion, 1,930mAh battery and is available at a very competive price. Although the specifications have not been published, the scalability achieved through it's 'HD Multi-Media Dock' is a major strength.

There is little to choose between the Atrix and Galaxy S2 in terms of web-surfing and speed of use. If one is basing one's decision purely on spec alone, then it looks like one has to plump for the Samsung Galaxy S2.

The Galaxay S2 retails for 245 000KRW but payment in monthly installments relieves the burdon somewhat. Furthermore, compared to Atrix it's groundwave DMB and the advantage of Samsung's After-Sales-Service cannot be ignored.

A major weapon in Atrix's Arsenal, on the other hand, is it's charming 'HD Multi-media Dock' and 'Lap-Dock'. The 'HD Multi-media Dock' enables the consumer to enjoy as yet unseen new levels of scalability and multi-media environment on a smart phone.

Atrix versus Galaxy S2 Multi-media Dock and Retail Price

Atrix HD Multi-media Dock is not a run of the mill charger docking station. Using a wireless mouse and keyboard it can be connected to a TV in order to access all manner of smart phone applications (Messenger, Kakao Talk etc) and browse the web. Atrix HD Multi-media Dock is the closest accessory to a PC available.

This accessory is available free of charge for KT customers and can be purchased for 40 000 KRW from SK Telecom.

The Galaxy HDMI cable socket on the other hand has to be bought seperately and is not of much use. The Atrix HDMI Port is automatically included with the phone, but the Galaxy S2 HDMI cable socket must be purchased additionally.

When the Atrix is connected to a TV Apps can be viewed on the left of the screen whilst on the right web-browsing via Firefox is possible and can be operated by remote control. This is a notable strength of the Atrix.

Whilst the Atrix can be connected to a wireless keyboard and mouse to conveniently input data, in order to enjoy multi-media scalability with the Galaxy S2 (which doesn't provide a peripheral accessory) even using an HDMI port, one has to buy an HDMI cable or use the DLNA function.

Plus point for Atrix versus Galaxy S2: Display and Resolution

Despite having a smaller 4 inch screen (compared to the Galaxy S2 4.27 inch) the Atrix' boasts a higher resolution of qHD 960x540 versus the Galaxy S2 800x480. When connecting to mobile internet it can handle a high volume of data which enables greater touch control.

Furthermore, due to it's higher resolution one doesn't have to scroll down as one can clearly view the table of contents in its entirity.

The Galaxy S2 has an 8.0 megapixel AF camera with single LED flash, and Atrix a 5.0 megapixel AF camera. Clearly the Galaxy S2 has a higher spec.

But what is the reality?

When taking a close-up indoor picture of a simple white wall one can see that the Galaxy S2 screen has a pinkish blur spot. Regardless of the picture angle the screen has a pinkish blur. Despite the S2's high pixel camera the photo quality is below expectations. (Is the Galaxy S2 trying to emulate the iPhone 4?!) Thankfully Atrix doesn't have any such picture quality issues!

If you use your smart phone camera function frequently you will have to get used to the Galaxy S2 pink blur. If you take pictures of yourself it may seem like you're wearing a tad too much blusher!

Although the more expensive Galaxy S2 has the greater specifications and seems to be the complete product, Atrix clearly has three key strengths over it.
